A basketball micro story

The day I stepped on the court, I knew it was my time when the arena projector flashed my name in the starting line up. I have been working all off season to work on my skills and improve my play calling ability. The coaches and trainers were surprised during the off-season when I arrived at the practice gym the week after the last season ended.

Usually, I won't care or think about basketball that much after a season ends, because I was hardly involved at all. It felt more like an extra circular activity to add on the resume for myself. In addition, most of my friends were involved in sports, clubs, organizations and other activities that I did not want to be left out of the equation and conversation. I told one of friends named Ryan, who plays basketball on the varsity team, that I was going to join the basketball team, he laughed at me initially. I responded, "Yo, Ryan I am not playing around." My face stood still with a serious expression. Ryan stopped laughing and saw my face. "Oh, you are serious about joining the basketball team huh?" Ryan said as he crossed his arms. "Yes, I want to join the basketball team next month, when signups become available." I replied still keeping a stern expression. Ryan smiled a little bit when I said those words and he walked past me as he said, "All right Dylan, if you are serious about it, I will see you next month in the gym." Ryan waved a hand up with his back towards me and left the area. I clenched my fists after he said those words and begun to prepare for the next month of basketball trials and tryouts.

The End.
