The next day Boomer was at home with his uncle eating breakfast at the kitchen table. Boomer talked with his Uncle about how his day went yesterday with Brick at the festival and how he met Bubbles and Blossom. "Oh wow! Looks like you had a good time then! *blurb*", Boomer's uncle said as he ate his meal. Boomer nodded his head and continued to speak. "After the festival, I walked Miyako home and we talked on the way back." Boomer's uncle paused and spat out his food after hearing Boomer's words. "Wait a minute! You can talk to girls? Let alone hold a conversation?!" said Boomer's uncle said in sarcastic way. " Of course I can!" Boomer stated in defense. "You see me talk with Brick and Butch all the time when they stay at my place," he continued before folding his arms and looking at his uncle. "Also, Miyako is our neighborhood from across the street and we walk home together sometimes."
Boomer's uncle began to laugh for a few seconds before slamming his hand on the table. "Oh really, kid? I seen you freeze up all the time whenever Miyako says hi to you." He began chuckle, "Even when Brick and Butch are here, you are the quietest one and barely do any talking unless they tell you to. Hahaha!" Boomer clenched his fists, "That's not true! I talk sometimes when we hang out downtown and in classes at school. When brick and Butch have debates, I sometimes jump in and give my take."
"No you don't. I see you barely have any input in your "friendly debates" and the points you make are silly or you don't mention anything at all."
"Arrgh! I admit, they used to happen when we were kids, but now we are teenagers and I can hold my own in a debate!" Boomer started to boil up at his uncle's words.
"Well, that might be the case now, but you still are a lamp post when your blondie, blue-eyed neighbor walks up to you and says hi. Haha. I can't see why you won't talk to her. HAHA!" Boomer's uncle began to laugh again and stood up from his seat away from the kitchen area.
"ARGGH! You shut up and stop talking about Miyako! You don't even know her!" Boomer got furious and stood up while pointing his finger at his uncle. "I am tried of you making fun of me when it comes to Miyako!" His uncle slowed his laugh and looked at his nephew with a smudge face. "Well, how about you prove me wrong?" he said as he walked up to Boomer.
"What do you mean by 'prove you wrong?'" Boomer questioned.
"Well, you have to talk to blondie and and hold a conversation without running away or being shy like you always do. You got that, kid?" He held out his hand for a exchange of hands in agreement. However, Boomer smacked his uncle's hand out way and looked him in the eye," I am not doing a bet with you again and I can handle it on my own." Boomer's tone was sharp and stern as his uncle smirked and turned his back away from his nephew.
"Well, whatever you say. If anything happens, don't tell me about it." He began walking to his room a few feet away before opening up the door. He gave one last look at his nephew before walking in, "Have fun at school today and don't forget about the bus times." He closed the door and Boomer was left with seething angry at his uncle before calming down. He went to his room to pack for the day, then walked out the house to his normal bus stop where he usually met with other teenagers in the neighborhood. He didn't mind the other teenagers who rode the same bus as him and sometimes had small talk every now and then. Some of them were okay, but he really talked to Brick and Butch alot because they knew each other for a long time. They met as 1st graders in the same class and even lived in the same neighborhood until after 7th grade, where Brick and Butch moved to a different neighborhood because their parents got new and better jobs. Boomer's parents had their same jobs, but couldn't afford to live where they were, so they sent Boomer to his uncle's house to live with him for the best option at his current school. He was glad to still see his friends, but he hardly saw his parents since they worked majority of the time and had no long break to see him. They had brief phone calls and visited for his birthday and that was it. He haven't thought about it that much because being around Brick and Butch was a great thing for his mind not be focused on it.
Later, Boomer and the teenagers got on the bus and rode it to their middle school after the bus route was completed. Once Boomer got off the bus, he headed to his locker before the start of classes to get his textbooks. He saw Brick walk up beside him and put his hand on Boomer's shoulder with a smirk. "How's it going blond head?" said Brick in a playful tone. "I'm all right, I'm glad we went to the festival yesterday." Boomer responded. "Yeah, I had fun too and now we have go to our boring classes. sigh." Boomer grabbed his textbooks and closed his locker and turned to face Brick. "Yeah, I agree."
The two guys started to walk down the hallway and in seconds they spotted Miyako walking by and waved at the guys. "Hey Brick and Boomer! How are you doing?" Both guys stopped and saw Miyako walk up to them with a smile. "Uh.. I am good." Boomer answered nervously and looked away from Miyako. "Yeah, I'm all right after hanging out with you two yesterday." Brick also answered. Miyako smiled, "That's great! I'm glad all four of had fun at the festival and enjoyed it!" The bell rang in the hallway and it was time for everyone to go to class. "Well, I will see you guys later." Miyako waved a goodbye and left for her class. Brick looked at Boomer's face and saw it was blue. "Are you nervous blonde head!? It's just one of the girls. Haha!" A loud laugh was heard from Brick that others heard and noticed it from their direction. "No.. NO I am not!! And stop calling me blonde head, orange boy!" Boomer retorted as he turned to face Brick with his arms flailing up and down. Brick stopped laughing before he spoke, "Okay. Whatever. Let's go to class then." Brick started walking to his class, leaving Boomer behind. Boomer had his head and let out a sigh. "Yeah, time to go to class."
The End.
